China – Guangzhou, Macau, and Hong Kong

Summary

Guangzhou is a very modern city. The main tourist attractions that we visited were the 9999 steps (outside of the city) and the Pearl River Light Show. After a few days in Guangzhou, we traveled by car to Macau to see the Historic Centre.

From Macau, we then traveled by Water Taxi to Hong Kong. It was interesting to say the least. The urban sections of Hong Kong are amazing, but our big excursion was in the “countryside” at the Big Buddha and Tai O fishing village. There were many hiking opportunities in this area of Hong Kong. If I ever return, I will make it a priority to check out Lantau Island and Hong Kong Island south of the city for hiking opportunities.

After a few days in Hong Kong, we departed directly for Osaka, and our next exploration in Japan.
