It was time for a long overdue hike into the woods. 2020 has been a strange year to say the least. It seemed like something came up every time I tried to make plans for a long-term trip. And at this point “long-term” is anything longer than a weekend.
Exploring the world starts off with an idea: where do I go? What do I want to see? What will I experience? Sometimes it doesn't work out the first time.
The second brood developed faster than the first. One fledgling remained after 16 days in the nestbox as the adults tried to make him fledge.
The second brood of the season hatched and we have 4 babies accounted for. They are about 3 days old. We took a quick peek inside the nestbox while the mother was out.
The Roller Coaster is one of the most challenging sections of the AT. The terrain is as follows: climb, descend, repeat. You gain nearly a mile in elevation over the course of 12 miles on the roller coaster and finishing the section is a fulfilling accomplishment.
