Today we examine the feeding behaviors of the Blue parents. Searching for food and feeding the young ones is non-stop work. Also, a close encounter with Mama
Day hike from Harpers Ferry, WV to Keys Gap along the Appalachian Trail. 12 miles round-trip including Civil War remnants, a conversation with a thru-hiker, and some cool wildlife and plant specimens.
A 50 mile loop from Lake Needwood in Rockville, MD to the National Mall in DC and back. It seemed like the time was right to explore via bike and investigate the state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the nation's capital.
With everyone stuck at home during the COVID-19 outbreak, I see several silver linings to the global "shut-down". All challenges present opportunities. Even being trapped in your neighborhood can lead to an excellent outdoor adventure...maybe in a few months.
It appears that winter is already over. In fact it seems like it’s been over for a month. It’s been unseasonably warm with temperatures in the 70s on multiple days in Maryland. Suggested hiking route through a Civil War battlefield PLUS a possibly historically inaccurate history lesson
A hike at one of my favorite places on the Appalachian Trail. A 10 mile thru-hike around Smithsburg, MD to the Mason-Dixon Line.
Hiking at Gunpowder Falls (Hereford Area) and Prettyboy Reservoir in Baltimore County, MD. Our trip was cut short due to bad weather, but we made the most of our trip.
Recently I started working a job where I get to be outside most of the day. One thing I noticed is that working outside makes me much happier. Perhaps the high amount of sunlight is preventing seasonal affective disorder (SAD), which I believe impacted me in my last office job. I have heard that SAD can be treated with “light therapy”, where you sit near a special light that simulates sunlight.
A review of the Tepui Ayer 2 Roof Top Tent (RTT) including a breakdown of the durability of components, functionality of key features, where to buy, and where the tent was put to use.
